Number 21

"To dress more like a 'grown up'"

So, how is that coming? I guess it depends on your definition. I bought a purse. Take a breath. It's true. I also bought a wallet that will not fit in my back pocket. You see, the both had to happen together. If I have a wallet I can put in my pocket, it doesn't matter how many hundreds of purses I own.. I wont use them. Pants pockets are just so convenient! So, this is my first of many steps towards this goal. It's worth noting, however, that I am typing this while wearing ratty cargo shorts and an old hoodie... which I may or may not have picked up off my floor and put on. I still have a few more steps to go :) As winter roles around this goal will be easier. I have a much higher proportion of nice winter clothes to summer clothes. I've done well integrating sweaters into my wardrobe and reducing the abundance of hoodies. I still love them. It will never change.

After sharing with Kristin that you are, in fact, supposed to wash your sheets once a week (google it... the internet never lies!) she has decided that she will get on board with that. Or so she says. Week 1 of washing sheets weekly will commence this afternoon when we get home from the coffee shop. She dragged me here to study. She is doing really well with her reading. I am typing this. I have read two very dry chapters on Quality Control and felt this was a warranted distraction. I also took a break to go take pictures of meat (I think that qualifies as dedicating myself to my responsibilities...?) In a few moments I will begin my statistics homework. My professor is a prime example of "some people are not meant to teach." If you saw my notes you would understand. I find in math it is extremely helpful to use erroneous letters as variables. And to use completely different ones in each example of the same equations. Oh wait, no, that's my prof.

Yesterday we made the front yard pretty. Kristin mowed, I edged.. which took longer than normal because I had to find the edge of the sidewalk that had been eaten up by our crappy yard. Also did lots of weed pulling and roundup application. It doesn't look like college kids live there anymore. At least in the front yard. Today we plan to tackle the backyard. Perhaps we will be able to entertain soon without being embarassed by our yard. Perhaps. Cooper (and Itchy) are disappointed by the lack of hiding spaces for the toads.. At first it worked to there advantage, but the toads don't like the yard as much without all of the safety of massive weeds. They have refocused their energy on grasshoppers. They are not in short supply.

The truck is broken.. something about a union ring in the turbo housing bla bla bla. I know how to drive a diesel, but once you open the hood I am perfectly content giving it to someone else to fix. I dropped it off Friday and am hopeful that it will return to me on Tuesday. I don't like feeling like a bum depending on others for rides. Ahh.

I guess that's all I have. Time to return to my studies... why did I go back to school? ;)

So I'm a couple of weeks behind in reading this, but it made me smile. Oh, and our yard needs to be mowed again... too bad it's not as easy as washing sheets :)
